trapped (haibun)

it has been a hectic work week. audits, crashes, appraisal interview. all the while the late september sun has been lavishly giving away all the splendors early fall can offer. but not for me and my colleagues, not this week, not this friday. late afternoon the problem is finally salved and we go home. shadows have already taken over. the sunlight lingers on top of the highest buildings for the last few moments, then fades away. it appears once more, reflecting off the wings of a departing jet. my eyes follow it south, but my thoughts wander elsewhere.

dusk
the wasp keeps tapping
on the windowpane

Great haiku, Polona. I love the combination of the strong visual and auditory senses.

Yes the beast does look "trapped", but then aren't we all?
