Ladybird Haiku

the sky spoke

dark clouds gathered
on the northern horizon
herded by the wind
came rushing through
the august afternoon
crying cleansing raindrops
over languished flowers
setting the stage
for the daylight’s farewell.
a single star twinkled
before its time.

the sky spoke to me last night
but i couldn’t understand
now i know
it was you
coming
to say goodbye

for Marjan, my favourite uncle

Breathtaking tribute from title and photo throughout your poem!
(I wish such words did not arise from sorrow.)
