an almost perfect day

a perfect spring day,
immaculate morning sky
embellished by the sun,
glistening dew,
birds honing their songs to perfection,
leaves unfolding,
cherries blossoming,
bees humming...
even the clouds
in the evening sky are there
just to make a stage
for the sunset.
i'm having a day off from work
to collect a few dozens of horses,
brand new under the hood,
take them on a trial ride,
visit a friend.
a perfect spring day,
yet i'm drowning in tears
for missing all the show.

Perfect day, yes I can feel that.
Here in Denmark it rained all day,
hope it wasn't your tears that came.

Now, as I read this, Polona, you think you're missing the show, but the poem itself proves that's not so. Is that what you had in mind?

thank you all for reading and commenting.

i have to say i’m surprised at all the feedback. seems i have inadvertently strung the right cord.
it’s strange, though, as up until this poem i never ever wrote anything resembling poetry longer than 5 lines, either in english or in my native tongue. but this one just ‘happened’ and i merely recorded it and thought i might give it a try on the blog.
what happened was that things with the new car didn’t go as smoothly as they should (do they ever?) and the whole business took me much longer than expected. besides, i had been asked to help carry out an indoors sporting event which took most of the saturday. all that prevented me visiting a place i really wanted to see and wanted to see it now that the time of year (and the weather these days) is ideal… all that resulted in a moment of frustration transformed into my first ever poem (apart from haiku and tanka)… well, there wasn’t exactly a flood of tears :), but as to the rest, it’s quite accurate.
