christmas party (haibun)
ok, this is pretty rough but i'm posting it anyway.
boxing day. the weather is mild, overcast, but clouds are gradually breaking. i turn into the forest and slightly uphill, heading towards one of my favourite spots. i pass a few fungi and a small heap of rabbit droppings along the way. by the edge of the forest some daisies still turn their white faces towards where the sun is supposed to be. frost has spared them so far. i hear a buzzard calling but don't see the bird.
a faint shaft of sunlight breaks through the clouds and a reflection catches my eye. there, stuck in the fork of a tree, a glass! and just below, another one. i explore further. an empty bottle of an unidentified liquor, a spent firework. there must have been a party last night.

the dog shivers

štefanovo. vreme je blago, oblačno, a oblaki se postopoma trgajo. zavijem v gozd in rahlo navkreber, namenjena k enemu mojih najljubših prostorov. ob poti naletim na nekaj gobic in kupček zajčjih iztrebkov. ob robu gozda nekaj marjetic še vedno obrača svoje blede obraze proti mestu, kjer naj bi bilo sonce. slana jim je še prizanesla. slišim klice kanje, a ptice ne opazim.
bled pramen sončne svetlobe se prebije skozi oblake in odsev mi pritegne pozornost. tam, zataknjen v rogovilo drevesa, kozarec! nekoliko pod njim še eden. raziskujem naprej. prazna steklenica neznane pijače, iztrošena raketa. očitno je bila tu sinoči zabava.

Polona, your "rough" work is finer than most people's best. :) Good stuff, as always.
Good Polona, take care of the dog in these days.
I prefer rough to polished anyway. Excellent Polona!!
Wonderful, as always, Polona!
Margie
interesting story!
i agree with aurora
good to take a walk with you
I like it, Polona. When are you publishing the Klingon version? ;-)
Hey good stuff. I am one that likes a little roughness to polished as well. Wonderful!

pesniki so posebni ljubitelji narave in vsega živega, to že vem:)))
Krasno!
Nice photo, and the glasses seem to be cleaned?! Yours?) Very neat photo! A good story, also. Poor dog.
aurora: that's a very kind thing to say (but sounds oddly familiar :))
thank you.
ashi: thanks. currently i don't have a dog (imo, dogs don't belong in small flats) but remember all too well the one we had and how terrified he was of all those explosions...
pat: most kind. thank you!
margie: thank you!
andrew: and true. i'm saddened by the way people treat our natural environment.
floots: i'm glad you enjoyed. thank you.
richard: thanks. well, i'm no expert in intergalactic languages :)
grish: thank you. roughness seems to have won (but i still think it could use some polishing)
john: thank you a always.
charlie: you mean there are glass bearing vines in scotland? how strange :o)
thank you for your kindness.
pp b-fly: thanks, kai! :-]
neikka: ta kvazi pesnica še posebej :)
hvala.
tikkis: funny, eh? i just found them like that :)
yes, animals are especially stressed at this time of year...
thank you.
I enjoyed reading your prose preface, too!
Very nice...doesn't seem so rough to me!
I enjoyed this, Polona! My dog would be shivering, too.
gel: thank you.
for your information (and anyone interested), a haibun is a short prose text coupled with one or more haiku which ideally complement in a subtle way (but not explain) each other.
masago: thanks, i value your opinion.
mb: i appreciate that. yours is an adorable dog and i hope the celebrations don't affect him too much :)
bearded: thank you.
